Hay festival, Hay-On-Wye, Wales 2017

 

 

Celebrating its 30th year, Hay Festival has brought together writers from around the world to debate and share stories at its festival in the staggering beauty of the Welsh Borders. Hay celebrates great writing from poets and scientists, lyricists and comedians, novelists and environmentalists, and the power of great ideas to transform our way of thinking. "We believe the exchange of views and meeting of minds that our festivals create inspire revelations personal, political and educational." Hay is, in Bill Clinton's phrase, 'The Woodstock of the mind'.

Hay Festival was founded around a kitchen table in 1987 and continues to attract the most exciting writers, filmmakers, comedians, politicians and musicians to inspire, delight and entertain.

An Introduction
Homemade soup of the day served with freshly baked bread (V) £4.50

 Spring onion, ginger and chilli chicken cakes with fresh salad leaves and a Thai chilli dip £5.75

 Falafel croquettes rolled in a herb breadcrumb accompanied with a tangy tomato salsa and fresh salad leaves (V) £5.75

The Main Event
8oz Prime Herefordshire Ribeye Steak with hand cut chips, homemade onion rings, field mushroom & grilled tomato with a choice of blue stilton or peppercorn sauce £18.50

Chargrilled pork loin wrapped in parma ham on a bed of bubble and squeak, drizzled with a pork jus £14.50

Harissa marinated chicken breast served with Moroccan cous-cous, roasted vegetables and drizzled with a roasted red pepper sauce £15.95

Sunday Lunch in Hereford

It is getting increasingly difficult to find somewhere that serves a good quality Sunday Lunch, in and around Hereford, that isn't a carvery having sat around for hours under a hot plate.

At The Priory Hotel we are rekindeling our Sunday Lunch menu, to create a reasonably priced lunch that is cooked from fresh local ingredients, where possible, and served straight from the kitchen.

What an ideal opportunity to get a group of loved ones together and enjoy the delights of our Sunday lunch between 12pm - 2pm. Pre-booking is essential, minimum numbers apply.

After Funeral Catering in Hereford 

Come to us for your after funeral catering.

We are a family operated hotel with friendly but attentive staff to wait on you without fuss or hurry; we are a sensitive and flexible team and consider the Priory Hotel to be the perfect location for your funeral tea.

We have an adjustable space including a comfortable bar and a sitting room in which to relax for those smaller groups, a restaurant and a function room, all of which can be interconnected or separate as required. Our 8 en-suite bedrooms can accommodate those people that need to travel.

At the heart of our hotel is the Hathaway restaurant in which we use the finest and freshest ingredients from local suppliers and pride ourselves on homemade dishes.

Afternoon tea is a very popular option for funeral catering as it is often the case that numbers are uncertain, so this style of catering works well. Please find below a sample menu but bare in mind we are very flexible and can tailor a menu to suit your needs and time of day.
